Prayers for our little one!
I know that it seems like only yesterday that Conner was holding our new baby boy. We were hoping and praying that Chandler would not get the terrible cold that Conner and the rest of the family had seemed to get. I called the nurse line several times a day and they said that he was fine as long as he was not wheezing. We were not wheezing and I thought that this would pass just as the nurse had said.
About one week has passed since that horrible morning that Chandler stopped breathing at home.
We were so excited that daddy was going to get to be at home with us. Sunday night, I felt like Chandler was getting worse and Conner was not getting better. I felt that the Lord drew me to my knees. I knew that I could not sleep until I was obedient so I knelt down beside Chandler's bassinet and pleaded with the Lord to please clear up this cough, congestion, and the mattered eyes and nose. I asked him to please make him the healthy little boy that we had prayed so earnestly for. I did not feel like that he was the only one I should pray for that particular night. Conner was sick as well and I felt the Lord drawing me to his side as well.
Chandler was 10 days old and was getting sick very, very sick. He was not eating as well as he had before and we were a bit worried. During the 5:00 A.M. feeding I looked down and he was not nursing and looked like he was choking. I pulled him away and rubbed his hands, feet , chest and tried to get him alert. He looked at me and was ready to lie down. Conner had wandered down the hall and wanted to sleep beside Mama and Daddy. This was not something that we always did......This was the Lord sending our Big Boy to wake his mama and daddy to find our new baby unable to breathe. I again tried to massage his chest, thump his feet and rub his face....anything to get a response. By this time, Mark ready to go to the hospital. Our little one was fading fast.
Mark said ," You are going to have to breathe for him!" I then began breathing in his nose and mouth and trying to get any response. We arrived at Baptist East and they worked and worked on our little boy. He was laying there lifeless on the ER table. The Dr's and Nurses worked and prayed for our little one. We do serve a mighty God! We were given a Spinal tap, RSV test, bagged and antibiotics. RSV was positive. Bronchiolitis Positive and H-Flu Pneumonia was Positive. LeBonheur was called in and we were transferred.
We were in the ED for 36 hours and were finally moved to ICU. We are able to stay in the room with Chandler from 7:30 A.M. until 6:30 P.M. and then again from 7:30 P.M. until 6:30 A.M. We were moved up on the list for a parent room due to us nursing our little one. We are so grateful for the Dr.'s and Nurses in the ICU and the ED that truly extended their arms to our family.
Our baby boy is now 15 days old and is on a vent and is being fed trough a tube in his nose. He has been given several meds including BP drugs that will regulate his falling BP. We are getting meds that will draw some of the fluid off his little body. WE STILL SERVE A MIGHTY GOD!
Chandler is a fighter! Please continue to pray for Conner and the rest of the family. We miss our little Conner badly! He gets to come the the hospital from time to time and play on the "Tree house".
